Salary: £10.00ph
Shifts: 22:00 – 07:00 on rotational shift pattern to meet needs

The Role:

  • To safely promote and encourage the independence and choice of each service user and ensure that their home environment is pleasant and safe
  • To act with empathy towards our service users and show a level of understanding for their needs and issues
  • To provide the provision of best quality of care to all service users that promotes dignity, privacy, safety, and independence and to involve the service users in the decision making in all aspects of their life
  • To support service users with their evening/night care needs
  • To keep our service users safe and free from harassment
  • To offer choice and control in all areas of the service user’s life

To be successful in this role as Support Worker you will need:

  • To be flexible and reliable to meet the needs of each service user
  • Care Experience is preferred but not essential as full training provided
  • To use your own initiative and have the ability to understand the care requirements of each service user
  • Have the ability to work on your own within the service user’s home
  • High level of communication skills (written and verbal)

Main Responsibilities

  • To assist all service users with personal care where required which may involve assistance with; health and medication requirements; manual handling; eating and preparing meals; continence requirements; handling personal possessions; finances and documents; shopping; household activities to include cleaning
  • To support all service users in safely accessing facilities within their home
  • To assist/support all service users in managing behaviour’s of concern and to use approved intervention strategies when required (this is subject to staff receiving appropriate training e.g PBM/PBS)
  • To manage behaviours of concern adhering to strategies and procedures set out for individuals with legislation
  • To maintain records (e.g. care plans) where necessary, ensuring these are wholly accurate, up to date and completed in a timely manner
  • Understand each service users individual care hours within the home, and ensure you are supporting them to reflect their care and support needs accordingly
  • Participate in mandatory staff meetings
  • To comply with the company’s guidelines policies and procedures always and to ensure that any potential hazards within the home are reported to the appropriate person immediately
  • To ensure confidentiality is always maintained, in keeping with the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998 – ensuring that clients personal details are not disclosed to any unauthorised person and all records are maintained within the DPA 1998 requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly motivated, energetic people person who is keen to learn, happy to assist with personal care, and wants to help service users achieve their goals and be able to remain calm in difficult situations.
