Salary: Up to £31,000 (Negotiable DOE) Plus company vehicle
Hours: 40 Hours per week – Emergency on-call requirement

The Role:

As a General Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the operational day-to-day management and carry out skilled DIY/general maintenance work involved in all aspects of the properties. The role includes general DIY and maintenance including basic carpentry (fitting fire doors), plumbing, replacement of tiling and flooring, and painting and decorating. This also includes regular statutory compliance checks and assessments of both private and public areas, liaising with the Estates and Facilities Manager, performing jobs as and when they are required.

As a General Maintenance Operative, you will assist with engineering activities, planned and reactive maintenance and support specialist sub-contractors. The post holder will be expected to be ‘hands-on’ with a clear focus on ensuring minimal inconvenience to the occupants on site.

This is a fast-paced role, to carry out planned and reactive maintenance and requires excellent communication.

To be successful in this role as General Maintenance Operative you will need:

  • Previous experience in the Social Care Sector (2 years preferred)
  • Requisite knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to your role
  • To demonstrate knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations for this role
  • Skills in general DIY and maintenance including assessment, installation, repair and maintenance
  • To be friendly and approachable
  • To understand and deliver good customer service
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • To demonstrate good time management and project management skills. You need to have and maintain (with regular training and updates as necessary) the knowledge, technical skills and qualifications that are necessary to perform your job role to comply with the requirements of the Organisation and any applicable rules, regulations and with any law which applies to your job role.
