Heart ribbon

We’re pleased to announce that we have recently appointed Gemma Hartnoll-Smith as our new Wellbeing Officer here at Holmleigh Care.

The aim of Gemma’s new role is to support our team with managing their wellbeing. We know from experience that working in care can be very rewarding and enjoyable, but we also know that there are tough days. By creating this new role, we hope to support our team to improve their wellbeing and thrive, both at work and home.

Gemma has a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience with supporting people to overcome challenging life situations, including being an executive board member at Mental Health Matters Wales (MHM Wales). Her ability to empathise, show compassion and true understanding is key to her role. Gemma will be there to listen, support and share strategies. If required, she can also support people to access mental health services or counselling.

Greg Lapham, CEO at Holmleigh commented “Shockingly, 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind. In fact, stress, depression and anxiety accounted for 50% of all work-related illnesses across the UK workforce in 2020. These statistics highlight that it is essential for us to recognise the impact that mental health can have and take a proactive approach to wellbeing. We are passionate about ensuring that we provide the people we support with excellent support, and equally want to look after our wonderful workforce too. We would like to wish Gemma a very warm welcome to the team.”
